A Heartfelt Reflection

As the golden sun begins its slow descent into the Adriatic, casting its warm, amber rays over the walls of Dubrovnik, we find ourselves standing at the close of another incredible season.

2024 has been nothing short of magical, filled with love, laughter, and the kind of memories that linger long after the music fades and the guests depart. At Dubrovnik Event, we are humbled and deeply grateful for the journey this season has taken us on, hand-in-hand with the most beautiful couples, talented vendors, and unforgettable moments.

Grateful for Our Clients, the Dreamers Who Trusted Us

To the couples who chose to say “I do” in this stunning city, words cannot express how honored we are that you entrusted us with such a significant chapter in your love story. Each wedding was as unique as the people who graced the stone streets of Dubrovnik, bringing their own dreams, cultures, and passions to our beloved city. From elopement ceremonies to grand celebrations, we witnessed love in all its forms.

These are the moments that linger in our hearts—the shared tears during vows, the laughter that echoed across Sponza Palace, and the quiet moments when time seemed to stand still, with the sea breeze carrying with it the sound of celebration. The joy, beauty, and sheer magic of these weddings are what remind us why we do what we do.

You, our dear couples, have left an indelible mark on us. You gave us more than just a job; you allowed us to be part of your story and you became part of Dubrovnik Event. We will always carry that privilege close to our hearts, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

Cherishing the Bonds with Our Incredible Vendors

Behind every stunning bouquet, every glowing candlelit table, and every perfect note of music is a network of talented artisans and professionals who made your dreams come to life. This season, as in every season, we were reminded of just how blessed we are to collaborate with some of the finest vendors in the industry.

To the florists, photographers, videographers, musicians, caterers, and countless others who breathe life into each wedding, we are profoundly thankful. It is your artistry, dedication, and unrelenting passion that turns visions into reality. Whether it was the delicate touch of a floral arrangement that brought tears to a bride’s eyes, the music that set the tone for the ceremony, DJ opening the dance floor with ‘Dancing Queen’ (I know you are singing it now as well…) or the culinary creations that left guests in awe of Dubrovnik finest meals, each of you contributed in ways that words can hardly describe.

We are proud to call you not only collaborators but also friends—our extended family. Dubrovnik Event would not be what it is without you, and we look forward to many more seasons of creativity and excellence together.

Every season teaches us something new, and 2024 was no exception. In the rush of planning and executing flawless weddings, there were moments that stood out, reminding us of deeper truths about love, life, and connection:

Time slows down for love: In the fast-paced world we live in, weddings have a unique power to make time pause. Whether it was a quiet moment between a couple, a stolen glance, or a shared laugh, love always seemed to have the ability to slow everything else down. It’s a gentle reminder that no matter how fast life moves, love is timeless.

The beauty of imperfection: Not every detail went according to plan, but those unexpected moments often turned into the most memorable ones. A sudden traffic jam, national blackout ,or an unscripted toast from a loved one—these imperfections only added to the beauty of the day, making each celebration authentically real and perfectly imperfect.

The strength of community: Weddings are more than just a celebration of two people; they are a coming together of families, friends, and communities. We’ve seen first-hand how love radiates outward, creating bonds that go beyond the couple and into the lives of everyone present.

Looking Forward with Full Hearts

As we close the chapter on this unforgettable season, we look forward with anticipation and hope. The cobblestone streets of Dubrovnik will soon quiet down, the bustling summer energy replaced with the calm of winter. But the memories we have made this year, the moments we’ve shared with our couples and partners, will remain vivid and alive, woven into the very fabric of this city we call home.

And, as we say goodbye to the season of 2024, we hold onto the deep gratitude we feel for the love we’ve witnessed, the couples who have become part of our family, and the vendors who bring beauty to life in this city. Thank you to each and every one of you for being part of this journey. We look ahead to the season of 2025 with full hearts, excited for the new stories we will help shape and the love we will have the honor to witness once again.

Until then, Dubrovnik will be waiting, its walls whispering the tales of the past, and its sparkling sea ready to reflect the beauty of new beginnings.

With love and gratitude,
The Dubrovnik Event Team

Helen & Barry

Dubrovnik event weddings proposals Helen and Barry

Barry surprised me with a long weekend trip to the City of Bath for my 28 birthday. After aday of exploring the city, we returned to the hotel to get ready for dinner.

Once we were ready for dinner, he took me out to our private courtyard for another ‘surprise’. He got down on one knee and popped the question.
It was a complete surprise and I was so shocked but so happy.

Once I had calmed down, we called both of our families and let them know the good news. We then went out for a lovely meal and some drinks to celebrate.

Barry has said that he really wasn’t nervous and until just before he asked me. The biggest scare of the day was that he had to leave the ring in his bag at the hotel recption all day.

Harriet & Rob

Dubrovnik Event How he proposed Harriet and Rob

Our engagement was amazing, it was out 6th anniversary and he took me to a beautiful spa hotel in the countryside. We had a luxurious suite, when we arrived he said he had a present but I had to close my eyes for it, when I opened my eyes he was on one knee. We spent the afternoon drinking champagne and telling our family and friends.

He told me after that he was meant to be asking me at dinner that evening but he was so nervous he wanted to get it out of the way. I had a small idea that it might happen because we had just been away on holiday the week before so we could have celebrated our anniversary then. Even though I had a feeling, it didn’t seem real so it was still a huge surprise and I was in tears for a while after (happy of course).

Andra & Gabriel

Dubrovnik Event How he proposed Andra and Gabriel

Our story is the best proof that Love will knock at your door when you least expect it. Back in 2013 I was living in Dubai, working as a flight attendant for Emirates. Gabriel, who was living in San Francisco, traveled to Dubai to visit his half-sister… who happened to be my roommate, so he stayed in my house. After about 4 days we were madly in love with each other; so much so that we decided to start a long distance relationship, although we were literally living on opposite sides of the Planet. Our love continued to grow and I eventually left my job and moved to San Francisco.

In November 2015 we took a trip to Bonaire Island because we learned that was one of the few places in the World where licensed Scuba divers can dive only with a buddy (without an instructor). Around the third day of diving, as we were floating around marine life 15 meters below the surface, Gabriel handed me a seashell and signaled that I should hold it very tight. I noticed it was wrapped in scotch tape and started to get an idea… but I could not believe that was actually happening!!! It was a complete surprise. The emotions totally overwhelmed me when I opened it and saw the ring (carefully tied with some fishing line). He put it on my finger, my hand was shaking. Then he wrote on a board “Will you marry me?” I wanted to cry but it’s not that easy on the bottom of the ocean with a scuba mask on! I was so nervous that I even forgot he was waiting for an answer. After a few moments I nodded my head YES. We took a video ourselves (since there was no one else with us) and we always laugh when we watch it. We are so lucky we have found each other and so grateful for special memories like this one!

Sabina & Sachin

Sachin proposed on a boat. He was acting very suspiciously that day. When I asked if I could have some water from his backpack, he shouted no and snatched it off me. I guessed there must be a ring hiding in there, which of course there was. I was so excited when he got down on one knee, that I didn’t listen to any of the speech he had prepared.

Aida & Chris

Dubrovnik Event How he proposed Aida and Chris

I met Chris in London, at a mutual friends birthday party. We were introduced because Chris was about to spend the summer travelling around Bosnia & Croatia (where I’m from), our friend said something along the lines of “you need to speak to Aida about your trip and get her recommendations”, we got talking and it went from there.

We got engaged in the Cotswolds, which is a really beautiful area of natural beauty in England (think “the Holiday” movie with Cameron Diaz). Chris had planned a romantic weekend away doing all of my favourite things including booking me in for a spa treatment, a yoga session and a romantic dinner. He proposed to me in a little village called Snowshill which has always been a place we would visit as an escape from the hustle and bustle of London. On our way back to London, we stopped over at my sisters house so that we could celebrate with my mum/ family which was so sweet.

Before Chris proposed, I found out that he had lunch with my mum to ask her permission to marry me (my dad had passed away by this point and I am extremely close to my mum). We always have a joke that my mum is the worst at keeping secrets so I was very impressed that she didn’t accidentally blurt out his plans to me!
